2026.2 Release Notes

Tesla software update 2026.2, released on January 22, 2026, combines Child Left Alone Detection for newer Model Y vehicles with smaller software fixes. Its two documented entries make this a focused safety-and-maintenance release, with a detailed description of the cabin-detection behavior and a separate overview of general corrections.

Child Left Alone Detection responds when the vehicle detects an unattended child. The response includes flashing the exterior indicator lights, sounding an alert and sending a notification to the Tesla app. These channels connect what happens at the vehicle with a message that the owner can receive on their phone.

The alert sequence repeats at regular intervals until the owner returns. This repetition is part of the documented behavior, rather than a single notification at the moment of detection. Owners reading the notes can therefore understand both the initial warning and the continuing alerts associated with an unresolved detection.

Cabin information used by the feature is processed locally and is not transmitted to Tesla. The setting is enabled by default and can be reviewed or disabled through Controls > Safety > Child Left Alone Detection. This entry describes the detection response and its controls without listing additional monitoring capabilities.

Vehicle eligibility differs between the two entries. Child Left Alone Detection is specifically listed for newer Model Y vehicles, while Minor Fixes covers Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y. The shared software version therefore includes different content depending on the vehicle receiving it.

Minor Fixes supplies smaller bug corrections and improvements alongside the detection feature. The release does not identify individual corrected faults, so this maintenance entry should be understood within that stated scope. Together, the notes explain the visible alert behavior and the accompanying software refinement without assuming further unlisted changes.

Below, you can find the individual 2026.2 Release Notes, with images and the vehicle requirements for each documented feature.
